I've got an old sofa, still in decent condition. I've called the borough but there were not interested (too many at the moment), I called British Heart Foundation which asked me for a proof of fire safety (apparently a requirement for all charities). Not that old, so should be fire safety proof, but nothing to show... Any other suggestion as how I could give my sofa instead of putting in the "bin"? Thanks

Try Freecycle - lots of people on here have used it with great success - including me.

"The London Freecycle Network is open to all who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, piano or an old door, feel free to post it. Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit groups are encouraged to join the network too, so they may even pick it up for you!

One constraint: everything posted must be FREE. "
