So, I left the comedy club sharply, walked past other open venues, expecting to bring friends to the Crown for a quick couple before midnight.

No signs of life at 23:10.

What's going on?

Fair enough. Was worried there was a problem. Glad there wasn't, but a shame about the lack of trade.

I was looking forward to a good pint and a bit of a natter.

I knew the Crown in Blackfriers Road in the early 60s If you did not drink bitter, light ale or mild or a mixture of light and bitter you could not get a drink, the landlord at the time was called John his wife was Edna ( Long gone I suspect) but I knew their daughter very well ) I wonder if she remembers dead chicken alley or barge house street a (What a romantic am I)

Burns Night has been and gone and I would like to say a big thank you to those that attended.
It seems the haggis , tatties, and neeps was enjoyed by all.
Chris Davidson on the bagpipes was fantastic. ( the rendition of waltzing matilda was great)
Rod Burns ( yes thats his real name) read the ode to the haggis
The folks from Symbian on the top table did the tradition proud.

more theme nights to come so if you missed out, theres plenty more coming up.

hope to see you soon
cheers

I'm not sure that plugging your pub is quite within the ethic of this Forum, bigphil.
