hi,
just a word of thanks to everyone that helped me in my quest to find "proper"pub food in the area............after weeks of sampling i can say without doubt the best place in the area is-
the royal oak in tabbard street-the sunday lunch is to die for.......all fresh, all home cooked and plenty of it........my only complaint was the price of the lager(though is this because its a real ale pub?)
anway this aside the food was marvelous!!!
thanks again....................

all the drinks in the Oak are reasonable (in it's London form of meaning), aren't they?

(no connection, and never had lager there)

...if you press it, they will come.

I have to say that I'm all in favour of high lager prices - it helps to keep the price of real ale down

very surprised that you can buy a drink in there for 3+/pint. (and I thought it was Carling)

Try the cider?
