Looking for a group to run with. Does anyone know of one in the area? Failing that, are there folks here who might be interested in doing something like this or informally getting together for runs?

Also I'm curious if anyone here has done runs in SE1 - how is it?

Hi Osamede
I'm not sure if there are any running groups in the area, but I might be up for getting together to go running, motivation is tricky when I try and run on my own!
I'll send you a PM

Or there are runs every week as part of the training for the Nike 10k race. If you visit, you'll see there is a "South Thames" run that leaves from London Bridge, although it is 6 miles long - far further than I can walk!
Good luck!

I actually in this specific part, I mean to ask about running in Burgess Park. Anyway, overall thanks for the responses, so far!

Hi Osamede,
I'm running the Nike 10k this coming weekend, and I too lack the motivation sometimes to go running on my own.
I'd be interested in running with someone (though I'm a bit slow), and you sound like the right kind of person because my normal route is across the OKR, down the side of Burgess Park, and then along the old canal and back a few times (depending on how I feel).
I'll send you a pm.

My boyfriend has recently been training for the Berlin marathon and used to run all round SE1. He used to find running along the riverfront (West from Tate) quite good as you can go along to battersea park and round or cross and go up to Hyde Park for a long run.

Jon - I'm doing the Nike 10k too, which park are you in?

Victoria Park - aiming for a time around about 1 hour. I have a number 3 on my sleave, and I think kick off is at about 11.

I'm in Battersea cos there's a couple of us doing it and we ended up in the park closest to the first of my friends who registered.

I managed 60 minutes last year, think I might be a bit slower this year.

Good luck!

For those who like mixing running and socialising, what about the Hash House Harriers. There are a number of groups in London, including, I think, one in the City and one in South London (Dulwich?).

I spent three years in Kuala Lumpur where the first group was set up, though I confess the expatriate heartiness was too much for me.
