Apparently Guy's Hospital also has a charity shop on their premises.

Someone on the site mentioned them before - they're in a 'Portakabin' behind McDonalds (St Thomas St). The ladies working there give an entertaining run-down on your lifestyle as they see it from your contributions. A bit like Thru-the-Keyhole crossed with Your Horoscope.

Make sure the clothes are washed! They always ask that in the charity shop, as it costs a lot to wash it. Makes sense, I think.

Does anyone know what happens to the clothes that go into the Council's charity clothes bins?

Does it matter what type of charity they are? They are making money to help others that need it.

There's also a homeless day centre just off St Thomas St which is very grateful for clothes and shoes:

The OKR BHF shop specialises in furniture and electrical goods - I've never seen clothes / bricabrac there.

On Walworth Rd there is a Salvation Army shop which is very well run (341 Walworth Road, Southwark, London, SE17 2AL 0207 701 0327 Mon-Sat 9am-5pm)
Also the Sense store (already mentioned in this thread) and a couple of smaller ones further down the road; Trinity Hospice and (I think) Geranium for the blind.

Salvation Army also have a clothes and textiles bank in Asda car park on OKR.
