Some one was telling me today that Bankside one two three only got planning permission on the basis that they painted the bridges,
I had noticed the bridges had been painted but it strikes me as a slightly weedy contribution to the area.
Also does amyone know have they actualy started building the Tate Modern flats.or can that still be stoped.

Work starts on Hopton Street tower:

Not sure if it's Section 106 or additional community funding from Land Securities, but they're putting money into an art installation under the Southwark Street bridge: - though personally I'm sorry to see the BANKSIDE lettering go when it's been there such a relatively short time.

I quite like seeing the word bankside they should incorporate it into there design.

And its a shame they're building a 25 story block of luxery flats in the entrance to the tate modern ,for the sake of a measly 9 affordable ones.

I think there were quite a few community benefits from Land Securities, I dont know the details but its never enough. Southwark planners have not proved very good at negotiating with developers on our behalf. Where you see any decent community benefits they have usually been negotiated partly by residents.
