Anyone go along to the event at Tate Modern/Millenium Bridge on Friday evening? It was 'interesting'. I don't think what was meant to happen actually happened - i.e. the ever elusive 'river of fire' (or illusion of a water fire as the artist put it) was fun as long as it lasted - about three seconds and the 'grand finale' above the Tate simply didn't happen, unless it was the series of small fires that started on the Tate roof as a result of burning debris.
Yes I went to see it with a couple of friends and it really was dire. 1 minute of a slow-moving piddly line of light. Not ferocious, spectacular or fast enough. Pathetic. What I wonder is how much the Tate spent on this disaster and how much of that money was public money?????
