Does anyone know of a list on the web of community groups in the SE1 area? All help much appreciated.

One day I will put together a comprehensive list which will appear on this site.

What sort of 'community groups' are you looking for, as the term can cover a fairly wide range of organisations.

Tenants groups? Residents associations? Council-backed consultative groups? Elected project boards? Special interest groups?

Or all of the above?

All of the above groups really. Even a paper list would be helpful to be honest.

Here goes ... from memory (I'll try to add some contact details later):

Bankside Open Spaces Trust
Bankside Residents' Forum
Bankside Traders Association
Bermondsey Street Association
Blackfriars Settlement
Cathedral Area Residents Association
Friends of Archbishops Park
South Bank Forum
Southwark Heritage Association
Trinity Newington Residents Association
Waterloo Community Charity
Waterloo Project Board

There are plenty of others which escape me at present

You can add our new one to that - unofficially called Blackfriars Tenants Action Group as we are not named just yet.

Mustn't forget "South Bank Against the War" who were ticketing people outside the James Clerk Maxwell Building on the corner of Stamford Street and the IMAX!

PS No affiliation, just thought such a specific group was amusing...

Try the Elephant Community Information Exchange (CIX) website - It aims to provide information on every service in the Elephant and Castle regeneration area, including community groups, local businesses, council services, learning providers, etc. The website gives a description and contact details for all organisations, and also offers local news, events, classifieds, resources, etc.

To check the listing for your group/organisation/service on the Elephant CIX, please visit or email [email protected] .

We are the St. Jude's Community Centre on St. George's Road SE1 opposite the IWM.

We have an 'old' list of most community organsations in Southwark or you could contact SAVO who should an up to date one.
