I have an idea (rare, I know).

Nice to see the corner opposite the Old Vic has been cleaned up.

But there are still fires and lots of ash around which blows in your face on dry windy days.

Hows about someone commissioning an artist to create somesort of an outdoor gas fireplace so that the homeless guys who light the fires can stay warm without having to breathe in dioxins and creating a big mess.

I think its a great idea but we need to get together some local businesses to get together to fund it.

What does anyone else think?

wouldn't it be a better idea if businesses got together and offered the homeless the use of empty office space for their shelter, then they wouldn't need to light fires in the open air. I heard in a recent radio report that the is the equivalent to the office space at canary warf which is empty.
