Another vote here for Tower Bridge Tandoori - tried it last night and the girlfriend and I loved it. Excellent, friendly, informative staff; nicely decorated place with a good atmosphere and freshly cooked, tasty food.
I ate there once some time ago.....was up all night being sick(king prawns),but realy enjoyed the food.....will try again as maybe i was just unlucky?

We had dinner at the Bengal Clipper last week, and I must say that it was really good. They also do a 2 courses for 10 that was excellent value for money. Tower Tandoori on Tower Bridge Rd (across from Sobo) is good for take aways, but charges 4.50 for a pint of beer, and 3.50 for a pint of lemonade -which is far too much

4.50 a pint... reasonable price!!!

I thought it was 4.50 if you get a pint of Cobra, because they don't have it on draught so they use two bottles (@2.25) to fill the pint glass - I'm sure I've had Carlsberg (export?) by the pint there at around 3.50 a pint, which is reasonable for a restaurant.

I almost always go to the Bengal Clipper for the Sunday Buffet which is great value at 8 and a very good choice of dishes. But if I were to vote for a smaller one (Tower Bridge Tandoori is also massive) then try the recently opened Mumbai in 37 Dockhead. Despite being brought up on curry every Sunday lunch as a boy (I never realised English people had roast)as I head into my mid 40s my tummy is a bit more sensitive. Bengal Clipper and Mumbai never leave me feeling 'uncomfortable'.

Dunno if it is technically in SE1 but I had dinner the other day at Hara at the Circle in Shad Thames. Now that was great - and outstanding service too. Pricy relative to your typical Curry house but food was a cut above and so was the service.

Double thunbs up.
