A few of us have been wondering constantly about where to go at lunchtime for some good, *cheap* food in the London Bridge area!

When we're at Waterloo, Mario's is the usual stop - brilliant food, fantastically priced. But at London Bridge, we often resort to Boots, Upper Crust or WHSmith's in the station (although Smith's seemed to have stopped stocking M&S Sandwiches - shocking!).

Would really appreciate advice. Vegetarian options required, however...

Bankside restaurant on Southwark Bridge Road does lunch for less than 5 in the brasserie and a lunch-time special of a baguette, fresh fruit smoothie and chunky chips or salad for a fiver. It's just by Southwark Bridge and has a great atmosphere.

El Vergel. 8 Lant Street,SE1 is my favourite.
It is latin american and, in my opinion, very authentic. Eat the specials.

Jerwood Cafe on Union Street is nice, with quality food and coffee, and a good garden and conservatory (being built).

The staff appear as if they've never spoken to anyone before, let alone served in a cafe, though.
