I'm sure evryone will agree that James handles the website in a responsible manner that encourages serious debate relevant to the SE1 area and does a fantastic job.

I'm a bit mystified as to why this company has chosen to set up its own trade association (cf: text of news article referred to above), when there already is a perfectly well-respected trade association representing the Nightclub industry. It is called the "British Entertainment and Discotheque Association" (BEDA) and they have a wide variety of different types of member.

BEDA regularly make representations on behalf of members on issues which their members feel exercised, and with some success (I am thinking of recent written evidence they have given to the Home Office, Parliamentary Select Committees, etc. which is readily available on the web.) For example, BEDA have to take some of the credit for pursuading the Government as to the merits of the forthcoming liberalisation in licensing hours. I would be interested to know why the Wicked company feel that this trade association is not effectively able to represent their views.

Dear Jake
The British Entertainment & Discoteques Association is what it says it is. We do not see OUR business as a Discoteque and the issues we and many other Nightclub Owners and Licensees are faciing are not fully represented by this Association by a long way.
We contacted BEDA earlier this year and found they had little knowledge of the major issues we are focused on.
We have now amassed volumes of information about licensing law and sexual behaviour in licensed premises, information which BEDA could not help us with at all.
For such a large and diverse trade with many specialist clubs and activities taking place across the country, we believe that it is not a bad thing for Nightclub Owners, Licensees and Promoters to have a choice of Associations to which they can belong.

Hello Folks

My name is Robin and I am the person who started the LondonFetishScene website (www.londonfetishscene.com)

I am obliged to address a number of highly inaccurate and presumptive statements made by Brian and Caroline Sheridan, to wit:

>The London Fetish Scene website is run by a group of volunteers >who are in the main quite new to the scene and are quite young >and inexperienced in the commercial world so relying upon this >website for an insight into the Fetish Scene is very naive.

Mr Sheridan is entirely incorrect in this statement, except for the fact that the site is run by volunteers. In fact the people who run and contribute to LondonFetishScene are some of the most experienced people on the Fetish Scene and are involved in many, many more ways with the fetish scene than the promoters of wicked are.

For those of you who are unaware of LondonFetishScene an introduction to the site can be found in the features section of the site at this url:
http://www.londonfetishscene.com/newsdesk/ViewArticle.asp?ArticleID=916

When not belittling LondonFetishScene in public forums the sheridans are quite keen to use any reviews of their events or photographs taken at their events in their own publicity without asking for consent from us.

>They do not represent remotely the views of the 1400 + members >of Club Wicked that have joined our club during the first year or >most of the Fetish fraternity.
Once again 'The General' is at oddes with reality, LondonFetishScene represents the views of _all_ people on the fetish scene, including members of club wicked. It is the sheridans who do not represent the views of the fetish scene, they represent the views of two people interested in making as much money as possible out of the fetish scene.

Furthermore, unlike the sheridans LondonFetishScene welcomes contributions from anyone with an interest in fetish and provides a singular service to the fetish community, a community that would be for more disparate and disorganised without the LFS site.

>For the record the other 27 + days of the month that
>we have conventional events
A short examination of the wicked website will prove to anyone that this is another patent lie. Wicked Dance (fetish dance event), Club Champagne (swingers event pretending to be classy) and International Fetish Fayre (fetish market event) are definitely not conventional events...

>we are Property Developers with over 18 years
>successful track record to prove it
It's obviously a very modern view to think that an 18 year succesful track record can include Mercury Group Limited (Registered Number: 02936056) which went into liquidation in 1998 with Ł46383 of county court judgments against it.

The majority of the statements made by the sheridan's are hype and self-promotion. They go on about how great they are at everything and how much better they are than everyone else at doing anything. They also claim to be putting so much into the fetish scene when in fact what they are doing is trying to milk the fetish scene for as much as it will stand.

Then, when their plans are foiled in the least little bit, they complain incessantly, quote 'facts' that are patently untrue, spread lies and disinformation, threaten legal action, form organisations for which they will be the sole participants but claim that they are representing the majority and so on, etc, etc.

In my opinion the sheridans are a pair of sad old swingers with delusions of grandeur who wouldn't know 'informed consent' if it hit them in the face.

Being a local forum for those interested in Southwark not just “investing” in it I am curious just how deep the Sheridans' commitment to the local economy really is.

They say they bought Cynthias in December 2002 and yet the previous owners still feature as the licencees in addition to members of staff as posted in their foyer. Surely some six months down the line, the new “owners” of the Wicked venue would have placed themselves as licencees and not hidden behind nominees or members of staff. I find this strange in the light of the considerable costs the Sheridans claim to have met for maintaining the licences of the premises aswell as applying for others.

I wonder how many locals are employed as staff at this “glamorous” venue. A number of former employees of the club were removed and at least one industrial tribunal is fighting for the rights of one former employee sacked by the Sheridans for not being part of their Nazi or should I say nasty little scene.

What a wonderful lifestyle to have a flat in the borough and yet only be available at the venue from 4pm each day - seems a waste to me but then I am not a “respectable” property dealer with no doubt many homes and manor houses to carouse in and host dressing up parties with live animal acts.

In fact I wonder just how credible the often repeated statements of “buying” and “considerable investment” really are. Has a large fat premium been paid for the leases, and are rates being paid for the Gothic Arches and no doubt with all the improvements the building inspectors must have been very busy checking the works and plans.

I speculate that if nothing has been paid for the venue and should the licence be in process of revocation - Monday 10.00am Camberwell Green Court for those who are interested- that the borough may not be enjoying the presence of this colourful couple for much longer. Time will no doubt tell and the court and public records recount the true story of who bought what and when.

And before you wave your swagger stick in my direction Herr General I would seriously counsel you to think before you “respond”, in fact silence at this stage may be your best and only defence.

My name is Rowena English, I am Brian and Caroline Sheridan's Personal Assistant and an ex girlfriend of Robin Brown. This is a reply to Mr Brown' posting. This the third time Mr Brown has posted slanderous statements about people over the internet, the previous two were about ex girlfriends that he had recently split up with - I unfortunately was the recipient of one of them - I decided not to post anything in my defence due to the fact I did not want to lower myself to his level. From my understanding and my knowledge of Mr Brown, I believe him to be a manic depressive and he has been jealous of my bosses since I have known him. In fact he is jealous of anyone who does better than himself. I work very closely with Brian and Caroline they are as open with me about the business as I am with them. How can someone make such ludicrous statements about two people, their work and their personal lives when they haven't even met them! This is ludicrous. For example Mr Brown called Caroline and Brian “a pair of sad old swingers”, which could not be further from the truth. It is well known by those people who are on scene and have met Caroline and Brian that they are not swingers but see nothing wrong with people who are. A well known foot fetishist once asked Mr Brown what he did on the scene. His answer was that he wasn't particularly into the scene but was a “fashion victim”. If one isn't into the scene and attends events to goggle as a “fashion victim” one is hardly qualified to say that the website he started and heavily influenced is representative of the views of the scene. How can Robin form opinions about other people especially when he has never met them and never been to Club Wicked. Interestingly Mr Brown has recently been freelancing for the company that Wicked employs to host and manage the technical parts of our websites and Robin's income has been dependent upon Wicked. I think you just bit the hand that feeds you Robin and once again you will be unemployed as you were when I met you. Robin I understand that times have been tough for you but I really wish you would stop libelling people and making false statements about people and trying to drag people down with you. It isn't smart particularly since you have no idea of what you are talking about in the first place!

Ho hum.

I am very keen that discussion of this ongoing topic of local interest should continue, and I have been grateful for the participation of some of the protagonists in the controversy here on the forum, but I would respectfully suggest that this isn't the place to continue running feuds.

Now that Rowena has put her side of the story, I must request that this thread doesn't turn into a tit-for-tat argument, otherwise I shall be obliged to close this thread.

Thank you

James
