How hard is our water?

It's the most exciting thing to have happened for ages ... I have a new dishwasher!!!!! But I have to set how hard the water is ... have checked the Thames Water website but cannot find any localised info - anyone happen to know?

As it all gets distributed by the London Water Ring Main, there isn't much variation across London - all at the Hard to Very Hard end of the scale.

Another tip Julie - don't bother to fill the salt dispenser with expensive salt, simply buy dishwasher tablets that have a "salt function". Tesco home brand are great and cheap - make sure you get the "salt function" ones!

It's very hard, or aggressive, as the Thames people explained to us when we were getting water filters plumbed in.

Take heart though - hard water is better for you than soft, especially if you filter it

We rang up our water supplier and they gave us an exact number which for the life of me i can't remember now - useful huh.
