A new Lebanese resturant, called Habi, is opening in about ten days next to the Costa Coffee on Borough High Street.

I tried to get a deal for SE1 readers from the manager but he politely declined adding that there would be some promotional offers.

The signs have gone up and it's called Hiba not Habi

It could be a typo, James. Signwriters aren't what they used to be ;0)

...if you press it, they will come.

Hiba is having their opening day today.

There is an open kitchen in the window at the front, and there are a couple of shawarma spits going around - tended to by some keen, eager-looking chefs.

(BTW, this looks like real home-made shawarma, not the minced-up spam-like gunk you might find in a cheap doner.)

I went to Hiba last night with 4 other members of my family. It is very smart, the restaurant is clean tidy and well run and the food and service were excellent.

We had their set meal for 4 which they expanded into one for 5 with a couple of extra dishes and a couple of bottles of very good Lebanese house red wine, all for about 20 each. Very flavourful and well presented food, we were all impressed and will definitely be going back.

I had takeaway on Saturday after watching Ireland stuff England in the rugby.

The hommous and wraps were fresh, homemade and great value. I am easy pleased after a few beers, but I think it is a great addition to BHS.

Anything would have tasted good after that match! ;-)

I do like my Lebanese food though so I'll be sure to try it out soon. It seemed quite busy when I passed by last night.
