Ruth, I feel we should organise a competition to come up with adjectives for Peckham and Camberwell.

Hmmm, well I do live there (practically in both, as it happens, being right on the border). And I did move there by choice. And I do, most of the time, enjoy living there. So you may find my competition entry would be more positive than most!

I am astonished to discover an Abel & Cole leaflet littering the soggy brick pavement outside the foyer of Perronet House. This means:

1. Perronet House is considered a viable target for premium marketers and not just cheap Chinese or pizza.

2. A pamphleteer got lost

3. A visitor from Notting Hill decided to empty their pockets outside my front door.

I found one too, delivered to my flat in Gaywood Street.

I was getting an Abel and Cole box for a while (I live at New Kent Road), but sadly they rarely followed my instructions of where to leave it when I was out. After it was stolen (from inside my building), I cancelled.

Does anyone currently have a mortgage for a property at Perronet House?

Just as I got an offer accepted and was looking forward to moving in, my agent told me there is a problem with the mortgage because this building is concrete!

Anyone come across this problem or should I seek the advice of another agent?

It's the higrise issue....
HSBC did mortgages for such buildings at some point.
Please bear in mind that HSBC do not deal with any mortgage brokers - so you will have to approach them personally. I used the branch at Moorgate about 18months ago and was happy - I got my mortgage for a concrete frame highrise....

In some other thread on here I once read that HSBC weren't doing them anymore but now it was Abbey National (I think) - That thread was about the two towerblocks called Burwash House and Simla House on Weston Street - maybe worth searching for it.

The flats in Perronet House are very spacious and airy. I think they still have single glazed windows which would be replaced at some point - good luck!

Thanks for the info - I will definitely look into it.

Agree with you - flats in Perronet House are spacious, with split level design and lots of storage space. Great views of the Eye too!

This building is truly hideous. The area would look so much better without it.

It is better on the inside, i.e. in the flats, than on the outside , with said storage space, views etc.
