Does anyone know anything about these? I've walked past them many times and thought how pretty they are with their lovely gardens at the front.

Seeing them again today made me think to ask you locally-knowledgeable lot if anyone could enlighten me on their history and who/how one gets to live in them.

I don't think that they are run on their original charitable terms any longer. I think the Draper's Company provided more modern replacements at Walter's Close off Brandon Street.

They were originally in the gift of John Walter, who was clerk to the Drapers' Company. I think they're still in the gift of the Company.

They're now privately owned, I believe. Reason for bumping this thread is that a To Let sign has just gone up for one of them. Stirling Ackroyd are the agents.
