Walked through Guys Arch for paper and lottery ticket and laughed at this - looks more like Guy Fawkes, but it is Viscount Nuffield.

And why don't the students use the rubbish bins? There are a dozen bins within 20 feet of this bench, yet.....

How do you know it was students chucking rubbish? That Londoners are disgraceful litterbugs is a well established fact.

Maybe students don't use bins because they're used to people (their parents, the cleaners in halls of residence) picking up their litter for them? But there isn't any evidence it was students. Most of the worst littering I see is by respectable-looking folk in business suits.

The odds are it was students, as if you pass through in front of New Hunt's House newly grassed area (K in above map) any day, you can see 100's of students eating and discarding all manner of rubbish on the benches, grass and steps.
