Please could I have some help from anyone with knowledge of the history of the name of Coin Street. That being the residental street no any organisation.
My 11 year old is doing a project at school re the history of streets and as she picked what seems to be the most difficult one to find out anything about I could really do with some help.

Thank you

I don't know - but there's something here:

The Coin Street 'community' have a visitors centre on the ground floor of the Oxo Tower - perhaps someone in there knows, or knows someone who does?

You could also try the local history museum, next to the John Harvard Library in Borough High Street.... or ask at the Museum of London, or Peter Ackroyd's books about London might mention it.

The information office formerly at Oxo Tower Wharf has relocated to the new Coin Street neighbourhood centre on Stamford Street [where there is an open day tomorrow (Saturday)].

Coin Street itself is in the borough of Lambeth, so Lambeth Archives at Minet Library in SE5 is the relevant local history library.
