What a bunch of nimbies! You live on Bermondsey street in new developments and new conversions - yet want to prevent somebody else from building another new development.

Just think how much your house prices will go up when the place has been fully developed and there is no longer a threat of further construction work.

As has been mentioned, John is presenting the scheme at the BSAP's meeting tomorrow the 7 February at 6.30 at the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (across from Delfina's). We have a planning group that comments on most larger planning applications in the area. If you want to join us, please do. Annual joining fee is only 10 for residents and includes our Christmas and summer parties, the Festival and other events as they come along like a preview today at the FTM.

Today nos 7 and 5 Tyers Gate; tomorrow no 3 when a new freeholder takes over in the spring and another lovely old building on this street gets a shed-u-like stacked on top.

Thanks Shawna - just to clarify - you don't have to be a member of the Bermondsey Steet Area Partnership to come along - all prospective members welcome. If you're interested in your area just turn up tomorrow and see what goes on. Refreshments are provided. (Also on the agenda tomorrow is the latest update on the Recall site.)

Sorry if this is old news to those who live in the immediate vicinity, but the application has been withdrawn:

Thanks James, but this withdrawal was only a technical hitch and the planning permission for the erection of two penthouses and four new flats is still live. The planning consultation period ends on 8 March.

The result of these applications was that the conservation officer recommended refusal as the development was too big and the applicants withdrew. John Ross has started redeveloping the ground floor of building no 7 in accordance with planning permission he received in 2006.

I don't think anyone knows yet what's going to happen next. So watch this space...

Rather like Royal Oak Yard.....
Monday 19 May 2008 11.40am
John Ross is going ahead with submitting revised plans for building no 5 with one storey less. There was a consultation on it last week but people only got 24 hours notice so there is another one this week at 6.30, Wed 21 May. The entrance to no5 is through unit 1, 7 Tyers Gate - the last grey door on the left before the park.
Thursday 31 July 2008 12.36pm
A new application has been submitted, with deadline for consultation on 9th August 2008. It appears that not everyone in the immediate vicinity has been notified by the council.
