Hi does anyone know where to get a good authentic cup of masala chai? (not the chai tea latte in Starbucks or Caffe Nero , but the real masala chai)
Thanks
Have you tried the Bramah Tea & Coffee Museum on Southwark Street, opposite the Menier Chocolate Factory? I would have thought that's the obvious starting point in SE1 for specialist tea.
You need to find a good indian friend who's parents can send the chai masala to you and then make masala chai yourself at home . SE1 isn't great for good authentic indian cuisine and although ASDA, Tesco's etc do stock lots of world foods, you don't always find what you are used to. There are a few asian stalls at Borough Market who MAY sell the chai masala. Or you could try grinding the spices together yourself!
Hi....I think SE1 isn't great for good authentic indian cuisine for Masala tea...Otherwise you search to Google...thank you

I make my own masala chai...put cloves, cinammon and plenty of cardamon into good Indian tea, stew well, add milk and boil...alas we dont have buffalo milk so there's a difference, but still...
Not SE1, but I was surprised to get it from a little shop on a platform at Baker Street station once! I guess it made sense, given the selection of samosa, pakora etc on sale alongside the sandwiches and sausage rolls.
