Did you see that Harriet Harman decided it was necessary to wear a stab proof vest to walk around her Camberwell and Peckham constituency and compared it to wearing a hairnet when visting a meat factory - sends out such a great message, don't you think?

Thank God, she's not our MP in SE1 - would she need protective clothing to shield her from the crowds at Borough Market?

Would be amusing if it weren't quite so shocking. Does she not ordinarily walk about in her constituency?

If not, maybe she should be replaced by somebody that knows and recognises people by name and face. I really don't buy the argument that "it's part of the kit".

Somebody who were trying to provoke controversy (but not I) might suggest that if she were really trying to wear the kit and blend in, she'd have carried a gun :)
