Aunty Pat,

There were none when I came to live here ten years ago. My neighbour and myself have been putting sunflower seed out for about 7 years now. About four years ago a couple of Sparrows turned up and then every year they nested and bred until this year there were over thirty.

Sadly the trees and bushes they nested and roosted in were cut down last month to make way for more flats and now they hardly come round any more.I hope they find a new home near here and don't desert us completely.

There's currently an RSPB sparrow-watch event every Fri/Sat/Sun in Bernie Spain Gardens.
