not strictly se1, but seeing as the logo was unveiled here, piggybacking the tate modern (sport connection??) and the fact that we'll all have to pay for the games, if they get here:-

just wondered what was the general view on this one?
personally i have a problem with the way it's being presented as an event each local borough (newham, hackney etc.) has to 'get on board' and agree to and londoners have to pay for: do they promise a re-distributed profit, if any, pro-rata?

why can't central gov. underwrite it or ar they worried about another dome fiasco? it's this kind of hedging that will weaken the bid when up against paris and new york, both of whom will no doubt have much more overt support from all of their government departments.
