Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated :)

Sounds like I should treat the area as the rest of London and make sure I take the usual precautions to keep myself safe etc.

I would not live any where else at the moment, despite what you read in the papers use your common sense, don't go walkabout with your rolex/laptop at 3 in the morning..tuck the odd twenty pound note in your pocket for the local druggie mugger...I still have my twenty unused after all these years..
I had an attempted break in a few months back and fortunately that is the only thing that has happened...thirty years ago under the subway at the bricklayers, some d**head tried to grab my bag ( he did not get it..
I have lived in this area for 60 years..
