Hello,

I need to find a reliable and good carpenter / handman etc who will be able to build me some floating bookcases. Can anyone suggest someone they have used in the past?

Many thanks!

I think you'll need someone like Stephen Hawking or Harry Potter if you want floating bookcases ;0)

Suspendiamus!

...if you press it, they will come.

Ikea did have some which had brackets drilled directly into the walls, like a spike then wood slipped tightly onto them...i wondered if they still had them..

By "floating" do you mean ones you can take with you when you move?

Argos sell floating shelves.

I know it is just a shelf and not a bookcase.

the IKEA ones are called LAK (I think), and yes, a horizontal bracket is fitted to the wall, and the shelves slide onto the bracket, so you can't see the fixing

OP has presumably bought a boat.

Hello,

Sorry, should have been more specific. I haven't purchased any shelving yet. What I'm looking for is someone that can buy the materials (wood etc - or if cheaper I can do and then do all the drilling etc.

FYI floating bookcases are liek this http://www.intersectiondesign.co.uk/ - no brackets and flush to the wall!
