I'm the grand-daughter of a Bermondsey Boy a generation prior to yours but I wonder if you knew my mum Eileen Burton (she later became Eileen Butcher when she married my dad Maurice who came from Greenwich). She lived on the Neckinger Estate where me and my sister Bilinda use to stay with her mum (my Nan) Elsie Burton and her dad (my gramps) Bill Burton. Bill had a garage in one of the arches under the railway line. He had loads of brothers but I can only remember one and that was Uncle Harry who was married to Aunty Pat. He also had a sister Flo who lived in the pre-fabs with her husband Bobby Cadman and they had a son also called Bobby. All the Burton boys use to drink in the Europa pub - does ayone know if that's still there or has it gone? I can remember going down the blue with my Nan (Elsie) and I can remember passing a building that was yellow on the outside which I'm sure Nan told me was because it was the Mustard factory Colemans. We moved to Derbyshire when I was 13 (I'm now 54) and I've never been back to Bermondsey although I did take my grand-daughter to Greenwich this year which brought back loads of memories. I want to come down and have a look round Bermondsey, particularly the Neckinger Estate. Is the blue still there?
