Well this is a welcome development considering that of the last several businesses starting up on the Walworth road, all have been betting shops. - BetFred (a few months ago), Williams Hill (opening soon), Agora (?) Slot machines - next to Abbey National.

Isn't there some sort of control on how many gambling shops can open in one area?

I think William Hill is just moving, I doubt they'd have two shops just a few doors apart (although that hasn't stopped Greggs!)

tesco opens thursday 27th according to a sandwich board outside

incidentally the empty Wimpy burger site is now a thai restaurant - i have no further details as i was looking from a bus

is the new Tesco going to be 24hr then?
that's the only way I can see it being used after 5pm on a Sunday, and after 10pm weeknight. Why would it though, when the OKR tesco doesn't?

and anyway, if you're that desperate, why go to Tesco? why not somewhere that specialises in being open at odd hours, and selling exactly what one wants if shopping in said hours - like a small local corner shop?

It'll be open 7am to 11pm.

The new Thai place looks interesting. It's cheap and is bring your own (with corkage charge) although the interior isn't the most appealing. It looks like they've just repainted the old Wimpy decor and put in new furniture. On the backlit menu board in the window you can see the old Wimpy logo through the paper! Doesn't say whether or not they do take away but if their licence allows for it they'd be stupid not to.

The OLI centre further down the walworth road is excellent

im not joking that i find it appealing that i choose from 17 types of sauerkraut or 8 types of fig jam at 3am

we do all our "supermarket" shopping at Oli's

Yeah, Oli's is great and it has a better selection of veg. than Tescos OKR. Can't complain about 2 artichokes for a pound!

Site of the old Jacksons Furnishings, 364-368 Walworth Road- Is that a new Tesco's being fitted out on Walworth Rd about 5 minutes down from the other one near the Library?

Yes, it is another Tesco

Except it's a Tesco that seems to specialize in frozen pizzas and other junk food ....

At the risk of sounding too posh for my own good, they don't even sell muesli!
