I know the Internet is a wonderful thing, but I often feel as I am missing out on so much of it or don't know what to look at or for. Apart from BBC, (this website of course) ebay, amazon, play and Timeout and couple of others I don't really use it for a lot else.

Just wondered what your favourite web sites are?

Maybe this will give me an insight in to lots that I am possibly missing out on.

I love the route finder tools on the tfl (Transport for London) site. Maybe I should get out more :)

There is a great route finder you can add to a Java enabled mobile phone. Its got me out of trouble many times!

Below is a list that a young lad in my office complied to help his parents get more use out of the internet. I asked him to send it to me and it's really useful. (He's a bit of an anorak, it has to be said.)

Sorry, James if some of them are not legal. I wouldn't know.

Music: For listening to music. -for music genome project- works in theUK in conjunction with Hotspotshield sampled what music -music blog harvester Discover Online Radio. -demographically managed music radio

These 4 are also worth a quick look -prob take you 1 minute total (funny soundbites)

Pictures: - Amazing, high-quality, pictures from around the world. - Reverse image search. - Crop a picture. - For anything art-related. Good site to get wallpapers.

Computer & Internet Tools: - Makes any page printer-friendly. - Finds websites based on what you're interested in and how other people's ratings. - Temporary e-mail for when you want to sign up for something and not get spammed. - Great website to create an installation package of applications for when you're reinstalling your OS or have just purchased a new computer. - Looking up people based on username, name, email, or phone #. - checks websites are working - link aggregator. - Tells you your IP address. -online photoshop equivalent - Free service that syncs a folder on your computer to an online data store. -homepage tool similar to the one on google chrome - Download any file from any site (Youtube, etc.)
This site has browser applications which can help you out with media editing in a pinch.
Image editing, vector, audio and screen capture all in one place.
Also for storing and organizing all the useful sites you find.
Upload and scan suspicious files with multiple virus/malware scanners - Really great search engine that does so on the fly. for any help with programs - 25 free gigs of storage from Microsoft.

General Interest, Tools & Learning: - Interesting and informational videos on a whole range of topics. - MIT OpenCourseWare - entire courses, often including lecture videos available for free online. - Safer surfing. Can block sites and protect your network. -drug information -life tips - Money management. - Learn a new language. - free stuff, jobs, trolls -as it says on the tin -white noise site- highly recommended! -educational videos on all kinds of science, high level finance etc -- to-do lists - Satellite maps with explanations, tags, links - Every ship at sea right now - find out how hazardous your soap/shampoo is - self explanatory - Where everyone in media gets their news from - Fatwallet Finance is one of the best money forums on the net. Also, hot deals is great (better than slickdeals IMO). - A much superior finance aggregator than (also it is not run by the devil of the business world known as Intuit) - This is a forum of people who adore John Bogle and his philosophy on investing. John Bogle is the founder of the highly successful Vanguard funds
which i highly suggest if your looking for setting up an IRA or ROTH IRA - Alternatives to premium-rate numbers for a heap of companies. - Local number to dial 0800s through from mobile phones, so they fall into your inclusive minutes. -articles- what's hot -How to videos for just about any subject you can think about. - See how much tax payers money is going to charities. - For creating mind and site maps - For learning languages - Help recover a stolen laptop (or phone). --> lists many lectures (from within classes) and other talks (including speaker sessions). You all must check it out. - The definitive Internet reference source for urban legends, folklore, myths, rumors, and misinformation. - Get directly in touch with a human when you're calling customer service/support.

E-books & literary stuff:
If you are a great writer, enjoy quality work, or just really want to improve your writing, E2 is spectacular. Also quite entertaining. Much higher quality of writing than you find just about anywhere on the web.

Shopping & Travel: - Awesome site for when you're planning a trip. - Finds filler items for Amazon so you have enough to get free shipping. -- discount codes, always go here 1st

Uk versions for a couple of money-saving sites: - UK cheap deals and voucher codes. - General advice regarding spending and saving cash, from house insurance to mobile phone tariff bartering. - Euro version of - If you're just looking to travel somewhere for a good deal, its the only site I know that allows you to search from departing city rather than arrival city.
Daily deal aggregators: -They shows tons of items from websites offering daily deals (like woot).

Cooking - You can make a list of ingredients and it will search the big recipe websites for what you can make - Amazing food and amazing recipes with amazing pictures. Go indulge your mental stomach while you plan on indulging your physical one. -Dad, this one is for you!
