[a bit chatty, so posted here rather than in SE1, but after the best F&C I've had in years, I just had to say:]

Olleys is still the finest chippy [I've ever been to] in SE1.

In the Ivanhoe offishial taste trials, it has won hands down in the following categories:

crispiest chips (move over Tang's Fish Bar, Ledbury. Unchallenged champion for over a decade);

flakiest cod;

obscenest gherkin (Mrs I informs me he had to eat it before coming into the flat to spare my sensitive eyes. Although that may not be strictly true.).

All you other chippies are just imitating. Pay homage to Olleys now.

...there's plenty more c**** in the cup.

It's on the road opposite Trinity St, on the other side of Borough High St, along by the Giggling Sausage. I never know what the road's called, but James' wonderful listing of places to eat on this site will have all the details.

You won't be disappointed.

If I hadn't had chips from Riva (not so good I am afraid, bit soggy) for lunch then I would be chomping on Olley's chips tonight..

Hell - you CAN have chips twice a day - Olley's here I come!!!
