My daughter and husband are longing to move, the house is semi was immaculate when they moved in...and when they move I will be more so! In the nine years they have been there it's been done up at least three times...neighbours are nice, but along the drive the council in its wisdom have small block of flats..shared by elderly...and by sound of it is also bail hostel! So the area now has some addicts shooting up,normal granddaughter is 10 so I think in my daughters mind she wants what we had when they were growing up...hence Sheppy. I went there thirty odd years ago. It will be further for me and Derby daughter to trave though...
Am sitting in garden..baking hot..slight breeze. Looking at what I thought were leaves floating down...then the leaves all flew up..never seen so many cabbage whites together..

Don't start me off on my conspiracy theory Jan, I've long believed the RTB thing had a sting in the tail, that being the people that moved out thinking they were "bettering" themselves were only a year or two in front of the dross about to move down next to them. I've seen it so many times, recently in Canterbury where any bit of land winds up with housing trust ownership. ( Not a ref to your children btw)
This bug might scupper that though, not so many wealthy people will be looking to live in inner cities now.

The best laid plans.....

My sheppy aspiring daughter, initially moved out to derby buying a lovely semi, garden back and front..large mature garden. She transferred her job to branch up here. Was not successful job wise. Moves back home as my husband was ill..meets her husband making a comfortable unexpected profit . They then buy new build in Hoo St Werberg just past Strood . Well we know about new build developments, council only give permission if developers build small amount of social housing. Cutting it short when crash happened, sales council bought the estate to rehouse people on list and developers handed rest to rental agents.
There is no shame in being council tenant, I was one till I moved.. All I can say is within few months estate was changing, beer cans, litter, cars speeding around narrow estate roads.
Double quick my daughter ,husband and baby moved. I asked her how much money she lost on purchase of new build...she told my older daughter she lost most of her profit from Derby house!

Jan I've been castigated on here for having a sense of ownership of this area, it's not mine apparently. When you do that you get what you get, non communities of people not giving a **** about their estates/blocks etc. "Dross" might have been a bit harsh, but when I hear of shooting up near children, I see red.

Watching a CFF special now, some terrible American accents and a little cockney boy being American and saying "are you kidding me?" a lot.

Great stuff!
