Thanks for the email. I have been having complaints all day about sending SPAM and I have just spent the past hour trying to find out why all of those emails were sent.
TAL is a new site that I finished designing a few weeks ago. I have just started my MBA and I asked one of my friends to look after the site as I do not have the time. What looks like has happened is that he decided it would be a good idea to spam a load of addresses, and I assume he got email addresses from your site.
James (the guy I gave over administration to) had access to my shell account so he could access PHP files etc and after looking through my system, I found he wrote this script:
for i in `seq 1 1700`; do lynx --dump http://www.london-se1.co.uk/forum/profile.php\?1,$i | grep Email: ; done > selondon
I don't know if you know Unix, but it essentially runs a sequence (1 through 1700) which is then passed on to a HTML dumper for /profile?1,number. I assume this is the profile of your users?
James has been bollocked by me for doing this as I hate SPAM as much as the next person.
All I can do is ask you to pass on my sincere apologies to your users about this as it was definitely not sanctioned by me and will not happen again as I have closed all access for him and other users to my machine.
