I've just finished We need to talk about Kevin, and was compelled to keep reading it but also felt that the kid was unrealistic. Yes, these things happen, but I found her descriptions of him as a child bordering on supernatural- it just reminded me of Damian in the Omen.....

I have just finished the most wonderful book: "Our Hidden Lives - the remarkable diaries of post-war Britain" by Simon Garfield.

It is an edited collection of entries from the Mass-Observation diaries of five people, written between 1945 and 1948.

The diaries are fascinating, and brought to life a period of history that I am not as familiar with as I should be.

SE1 gets a mention, too.

I'm a bit sad that I've finished it.
