I'm pleased to announce the launch of our new Bookshop section, in association with the London Bookshop, a small online bookseller specialising in books about this city.

Plenty of local books included - just use the bookshop search to look up any local place name - eg Southwark, Bermondsey, Waterloo etc - to see relevant titles.

Whilst the London Bookshop can't match Amazon's deep discounts, it does provide better availability of some of the less mainstream titles. These days Amazon often imposes a surcharge for special order items.

And of course by buying books via our Bookshop section you are supporting the upkeep of this community website.

So I suppose they'll do us a discount for our Book Club?

...if you press it, they will come.

Very sorry to conjure that image up, Birdie. I meant that in asking for a discount I was knowingly displaying the other sort of cheek, as I think you well knew.

Now off you go and stop thinking about me baring my bottom. I know it will be difficult ;0)

...if you press it, they will come.

Of course I knew!

The child inside won't let me pass up that kind of opportunity though! ;-)

Congrats James.

You are definately the first port of call. Good to have a way in which to support the site.

I love the bookshop James! I think there's lots of people on this site, me included, who can't get enough of SE1- and London-related stuff. Its great to have a sifted selection all in one place. I shall be giving people the web address instead of birthday and Christmas requests.

A quick plug for the House by the Thames (which I see is available in the bookshop) - about 49 Bankside / Cardinals Wharf which I'm just finishing.

Was also reviewed in the BBC Magazine today -
