This year I am suggesting Bananas Restaurant & Wine Bar on Walworth Rd which launched recently. I know it is not strictly SE1 but the food is great and we aren't limited to numbers. What do you think? Menu below:
Smoked salmon pancake with salmon roulette, citric cream & fresh herbs
Confit Partridge salad
Crab & Prawn cocktail with mint & basil sauce
Aubergine caviar with crispy raw vegetables & paprika vinaigrette
Confit duck leg with orange sauce & gratin potatoes
Sea Bass with king prawns, saffron risotto & lemon grass sauce
Rib Eye Steak with mushrooms & cinnamon sauce
Portugese Custard tart with a vanilla & coffee shot
Chocolate caramel fondant with raspberry sorbet
Sweet yellow eggs with cinnamon
Xmas pudding with brandy sauce
Coffee or Tea
£20.60 per person
(the chocolate fondant is to die for! - best i've ever had!).
(The menu is usually £25.75 per head but I have negotiated a 20% discount off the bill (including off the drinks which we can do with a kitty as usual).)
I have provisionally pencilled us in for Friday 14th December but we can change (asap) if this date doesn't suit the majority.
Please let me know if you are happy with these arrangements and the menu.
Hi Plum, count Mr N and myself in too, look forward to seeing everyone. Food looks great especially the puds!
Re Juanita's query:
Last year the family went to a pub near Canterbury for our annual pre Christmas Lunch with my Father, they did not have Turkey on their Menu, But I e-mailed the landlord and asked if it was possible to include traditional Turkey and all the trimmings,it was no problem. Do you think it is a possible to include Turkey on the menu at Bananas if there were was a demand from the Diners?
