Well done!!

Shame about the awful prize (but perhaps only if you're a cider nerd like me)

...if you press it, they will come.

Haven't tried Jacques before. Is it awful?

I strongly suspect that it is a carefully composed cocktail of fermented corn starch, water, and flavourings, with possibly some nodding acquaintance with someone who may have seen the word "fruit" once upon a time.

Having said which, that would make it a reasonable equivalent of a lot of the stuff on the market nowadays masquerading as cider.

If you want to compare it to a decent commercial cider, then try the Aspalls at The Bridge House, or the Stowford Press and The Royal Oak.

...if you press it, they will come.

I'm making sure that mine is thoroughly chilled before i even attempt it!- the cider that is ;-)

Great fun last night, well done team! I have a pass for next Wednesday too so shall we do it again?

Do we fancy having a go at the Waterloo Pubs quiz? If so, the first competition night is next Tuesday the 22nd.

Yes and Yes

Let's keep going, while we are ahead, on the euphoric roller-coaster known to pub quiz winners (as we are ;-)

I am Googling with a passion all trivia I can think of (apart from Harry-Bleedin-Potter - pah) - did you know that the Greek Gods lived in Olympus?? - or somewhere in East London?

I am about to experience the contents of the "Cider Prize".

Mine has been chilling overnight in the dark depths of my Zanussi and is painful to the touch - so Ivanhoe, I have high hopes that your pessimism is unfounded!

By the way - we need a Team Captain - I vote for Plum.

"Painful to the touch". Remember that phrase AFTER you've tried the "cider" ;0)

I do hope it's lovely. For your sake. But I fear it will have the same relationship to real cider as Wotsits have to real potato crisps.

...if you press it, they will come.

Yikes Ivanhoe, i'm afraid that you were right about the cider! If anyone enjoyed theirs then you are more than welcome to mine!

I guess that we're not going to be entering the Waterloo Quiz as we don't have enough for a team. Walworther and Tattie have other commitments and Shooey hasn't replied so i'm guessing she's a no too.

Are we still going to the Roebuck tomorrow?
Tuesday 22 January 2008 11.18am
I'm up for it - but that would only be 2 of us for the team - not enough me thinks!

boroughmark/paul - are you guys interested? - what about Ivanhoe and Mrs I???

Sorry folks had a weekend on business which turned into an extra night in Copenhagen and nightmare flights so have not been around.

Can't do tonight, sorry or Wednesday but am keen to go again sometime.

PS the cider was awful!!! I pride (!?!) myself on being able to drink most things but that was truly horrible!

<ivanhoe repel mode>
I must be very odd - I thought the cider was ok!
</ivanhoe repel mode>

Anyway - Plum mate - think we should postpone quiz meet 'til next week?
