We are a young couple wanting to buy in Devon Mansions. Would anybody be able to help to find out if these are all privately owned or if some are still council flats?? And were would be the best place to look for flats for sale in these blocks.

Hope to hear all your advice soon.

There was a similar thread back in December that you may wish to look at:

No they are not mostly privately owned, they are mainly council. Sorry I can't help.

Sorry to differ Karene but Devon Mansions has the highest rate of Residents (as opposed to Tenants) in Southwark. As someone mentioned in the 'SE1 has gone to the dogs' (or whatever it's called), the temptation of lucre was too great to resist for tenants who used the Right to Buy.

My understanding is its still a majority of tenants on the estate.

Don't want to get into the lucre debate, understand what you're saying, but government policy encouraged the right to buy...problem is they stopped building council housing...can't blame people for wanting a roof over their heads when the only way they can do it is to over-stretch on inflated mortgates.
