The danger and disorientation of the Blackout, the terror of night raids and new encounters with a strange nocturnal landscape provided fertile subject matter for British artists during the Second World War.

Exhibited works by artists such as John Minton, William Scott, Roger Nicholson and Leslie Cole, reveal artists revelling in a surreal beauty emerging from the darkness of wartime.
