A classic tale of twisted love, dangerous lies and sexual obsession reimagined in an evocative new production from JMK Award winning director Michael Oakley.
The beautiful Beatrice-Joanna has fallen in love with Alsemero – there is just one problem – she is already engaged to Alonzo. Blinded by desire, she desperately seeks a way out of the engagement and finds it in the unlikely shape of her disfigured servant De Flores. Little does Beatrice-Joanna know how far De Flores will go to help her.
First seen in 1622, Middleton and Rowley's play explores the destructive nature of sexual obsession. Transcending social divides and overturning prejudice, it is a warped and moving love story that tracks the process of desire possessing the body and mind.
