This Is Natural

Joon Kwon’s second solo exhibition is about human power, engendered by the daily grind of existence.

She seeks to present these powers as superhuman/supernatural powers that transcend what we perceive to be ordinarily human. In her illustrations, the powers are portrayed in the form of nictitating membranes, of laser beams and artificial fire emitted by human bodies. These give the visuals a surreal, science-fiction feel. However, in the familiarity of the portrayals, she also attempts to convey that these superpowers are natural.
