For his Young Vic debut, the 2012 Genesis Future Directors Award-winner Ben Kidd directs a taut and brilliantly suspenseful drama by the Pulitzer Prize-winning American playwright David Mamet.
When a grieving woman seeks out Charles to contact the afterlife, the would-be psychic is keen to help – but his lover would rather swindle her out of her inheritance. Dirt poor and desperate to please his young lover, Charles reluctantly agrees. But when their perfectly rehearsed séance gets out of control, the medium makes an astonishing revelation. Is Charles a gifted spiritualist or just a cash-strapped conman?
