Thomas Parry Ford

Out the Window

The latest Footfall Art exhibition in the windows of the Macai office.

Set firmly in the everyday, Tom’s work meticulously explores the vacuous space between seeing and looking. Taking inspiration from archetypal or iconic objects and working primarily in paint, he attempts to build playfully shifting planes of form and colour that interact with the viewer’s natural perception of depth. In doing so he hopes to create an engaging image that revels in and yet defies its two dimensional limitations.

This show, 'Out the Window' recounts the experience of the end of the day. Each painting plays on the idea of the disinterested stare with the focal point of each image shifting as the fore and background vie for the viewer’s lazy focus.

Born in Dartford, Tom graduated from the Painting and Printmaking Department of The Glasgow School of Art in 2010 and having settled back in London, following a stint in Copenhagen, he is currently working from a studio in Woolwich.
