Dragon Cafe in the City
The programme for this free online event starts with a celebration of inspiring woman through song and word.
13:00 – 14:00 Southwark Rebel Women – A Celebration by the Dragon Café Singers, led by Vivien Ellis, tell the fascinating stories of six inspiring women of Southwark, through their original song 'Southwark Rebel Women'.
Written and recorded in lockdown with support from Southwark Council Neighbourhoods Fund for International Women's Day 2021.
The song celebrates these women who fought for social change: Dragon Café founder Sarah Wheeler; 18th century feminist philosopher Mary Wollstonecraft; as well as Una Marson, Ada Salter, Octavia Hill and Evelyn Sharp.
