The recorded Black presence in South London goes back at least 500 years. This presentation by Steve Martin looks at the lives of Black people of all backgrounds over this period.

From the extremely wealthy coal merchant Caesar Picton to the writer and anti-slavery activist Olaudah Equiano and the hundreds of slaves and servants working in households in this area we will find out what life was like for Black Londoners from previous centuries.
