Benjamin Britten's String Quartet no. 1.
First, at 2pm, there is an illuminating talk on the work by Robert Hanson, the former head of music at Morley (where his predecessors included Gustav Holst and Michael Tippett).
There are plenty of illustrations played by the Allegri, who also comment. Then, after a short break, the Allegri (leader Ofer Falk) play the quartet.
This tradition of termly Allegri recitals is under threat due to national funding cuts so a strong attendance is hoped for.
