Messiaen's La Nativite du Seigneur

Norman Harper will perform Messiaen's La Nativite du Seigneur as a lunchtime organ recital.

Olivier Messiaen was organist of the church of La Sainte Trinite in Paris, and he dedicated his life's work as a composer to "expressing the truths of the Catholic faith".

This set of nine beautiful and atmospheric meditations on the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ convey the elements of the Christmas story in a vivid and original way, and will aid your preparations for this special time of the year.

It also serves as a centenary tribute to Messiaen, who was born on 10 December 1908.
