Safak, author of four novels including The Flea Palace, will be launching her newly-translated novel The Gaze (Mahrem) exclusively at Crockatt & Powell. Safak is Turkish literature’s leading female voice, and The Gaze interweaves the story of a bulimic woman and her childhood sexual abuse in 1980s Istanbul with parallel stories set in 17th century Siberia and 19th century France. Winner of the Turkish Book Award, this novel is now to be published in the UK for the first time.
