10 disabled adults from Bede House and 10 primary school children from nearby Grange Primary School will be performing their own choreography inspired by a mural at Bede House.
The performance will be a culmination of a project called More Creative: Performing Pictures.
After a visit to Bede with the schoolchildren to explore the mural of More London, two of Create’s professional dancers led seven weekly dance workshops in which the participants were encouraged to work together to explore movement, body control and self-expression.
Many adults with learning difficulties have difficulty communicating through language and Performing Pictures will enable Bede’s adults to work collaboratively with children from Grange Primary School to communicate through movement.
Through dance activities, the project encourages them to express themselves, gain confidence and demonstrate their ability in an area not dependent on language skills.
