About Garden Museum Cafe

The Garden Museum reopened in November 2008 after an exciting and innovative internal reconstruction designed by Dow Jones architects. Reopening with a new interior, new identity and a new philosophy, the Garden Museum explores and celebrates the social, artistic and cultural significance of gardens and gardening through a programme of exhibitions, debates, lecture and symposium. The Museum receives no public funding and benefits from a busy Venue Hire programme, a thriving shop and café and greatly increased visitor numbers both for events and general admission.

The Garden Café is a licensed vegetarian café serving hot and cold drinks, cakes throughout Museum opening hours and a lunchtime selection of vegetarian main courses and salads. The total number of covers is 35, with 20 extra seats in the Museum’s garden which can be used in the summer. Since 2008, the café has built up a regular customer base of people living and working in the area. This, in addition to the increased Museum visitor numbers ensures that the café is very busy during the summer months. Specialising in vegetarian lunches, the food served at the café is seasonal and wherever possible local. Everything is made from scratch in the galley kitchen and the menu changes daily. An interest in great quality food and service is paramount in this environment.
