About this role

We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead community engagement for Science Gallery London (SGL). With a particular focus on 15-25 year olds and Southwark and Lambeth, we will engage communities with opportunities to connect with the gallery, be part of the development and production of SGL programming as well as participating in our events and activities. The role will develop, own and implement an engagement strategy to raise the profile and reach of SGL with priority local groups. We have already developed relationships with our local communities, but this role will bring drive, coherence and sustainability to these connections and empower young people in particular to get involved with SGL.

Person description

The successful candidate will be a confident, friendly and accessible team member with experience of building and maintaining a range of external networks and relationships in local communities with respect, cultural sensitivity and a friendly, non-elitist spirit. Experience of working with young people, positively influencing community stakeholders and the ability to negotiate with external partners, manage partnership agreements and work proactively to build new contacts and relationships are essential, as well as outstanding listening, communication, networking and interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and deliver dynamic and engaging public presentations to diverse audiences in an accessible and positive manner.

About Science Gallery London at King's College London

King’s College London is launching a new cultural space, Science Gallery London, where art and science will collide through a programme of themed seasons every year, incorporating exhibitions, events and performances. Opening in spring 2018 opposite The Shard, the Gallery will attract over 300,000 visitors per year, bringing together artists, scientific researchers, students and local communities in surprising and innovative ways.
