Hop Pole reopens

The 150 year old Hop Pole pub in Gambia Street has re-opened after being closed for two years.

The free house has been completely redecorated with light walls, cosy ancient seats from Brighton, old photographs of hop picking and, appropriately, plenty of dried hops.

Landlady Jennifer Bond and her colleagues are keeping the pub open from 11am to 11pm with an all day brunch for £3.50.

Gambia Street is due to be turned into a garden as part of a traffic calming scheme.
